Academies at UCLA
Coaching and cash for entrepreneurial not-for-profit organizations
In partnership with the UCLA Department of Economics in the Division of Letters and Science, the Social Enterprise Academy supports not-for-profit organizations in developing business ventures that expand their impact and income — featuring the talents of UCLA students, faculty and alumni.
How the Academy works
Teams of 3 to 5
Selected not-for-profit organizations are represented by three to five team members and paired with UCLA students earning academic credit for their work.
Idea to business plan
Together, teams select the strongest enterprise idea, conduct market research, and build a full business plan with support from experienced mentors.
Eight work sessions
Sessions run roughly twice a month on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 9:00 pm, via Zoom or on the UCLA campus, led by UCLA faculty, alumni and seasoned operators.
Over $30,000 in prizes
The program concludes in late May with a two-round venture competition, pitching to a panel of judges with expertise in impact investing.
Applications are due by Friday, November 15 — space is limited.
Each cohort is intentionally small so every organization gets dedicated student teams and mentors. Download the application above and send it back to us to be considered.
