## From Incarceration to Inspiration: Buena Park Resident Debuts Documentary "The Outcome" in Long Beach

**LONG BEACH, Calif. — June 5, 2026** — Friends, family members, legal advocates, and community supporters gathered at The Art Theatre in Long Beach on Friday evening for the debut screening of **“The Outcome,”** a deeply personal documentary chronicling the journey of Buena Park resident **Kijana Jardan**, who spent 18 months incarcerated before being proven innocent of multiple attempted murder charges.

The documentary, which premiered at **The Art Theatre, 2025 East 4th Street, Long Beach**, tells the story of Jardan’s wrongful incarceration at the **Lynwood Women’s Regional Detention Center**, her fight to clear her name, and her determination to rebuild her life after regaining her freedom.

More than a story about injustice, _The Outcome_ is ultimately a story about resilience, forgiveness, and hope.

The film takes viewers through one of the most difficult chapters of Jardan’s life while highlighting the emotional toll wrongful incarceration can have on individuals and their families. Yet despite the hardship she endured, Jardan said the experience transformed her perspective on life.

_“Going through everything I went through taught me not to take anything for granted,”_ said Jardan. _“I saw people who never got the opportunity to leave prison. Because of that, I’m more grateful, more forgiving, and more focused on the positive things in life. My hope is that this film reaches people who feel forgotten and reminds them not to give up hope, especially if they know they’re innocent.”_

Since her release, Jardan has focused on rebuilding her future. Earlier this year, she married her husband on Valentine’s Day and is exploring the possibility of adoption. Professionally, she works in the security industry and recently received her **Top Secret security clearance**, a milestone she once thought impossible while incarcerated.

She has also launched **The Outcome Kitchen**, a barbecue catering business inspired by her personal journey and commitment to creating new opportunities.

Looking ahead, Jardan hopes to take her documentary on the road to correctional facilities, community organizations, and educational institutions across the country.

_“If my story can help even one person keep going when they’ve lost hope, then sharing it is worth it,”_ she said.

One of the evening’s most emotional moments occurred after the screening when Jardan embraced her mother, who presented her with a congratulatory gift.

Throughout her daughter’s incarceration, Jardan’s mother faced the pain of watching her child sit behind bars while maintaining faith that justice would ultimately prevail.

_“Watching the film brought back memories that were incredibly difficult,”_ said Jardan’s mother. _“As a mother, your heart breaks when your child is suffering and there’s little you can do. But seeing Kijana standing here today, sharing her story and helping others, fills me with pride.”_

Also in attendance was **Stephanie Dixon**, Deputy Alternate Public Defender, who was appointed by the court to represent Jardan during her legal battle.

Dixon reflected on the journey she witnessed firsthand and expressed admiration for how Jardan has chosen to move forward.

_“I know that she’s just going to continue to grow and be an amazing human,”_ said Dixon. _“What stands out most is that she didn’t allow her circumstances to define her. Instead, she’s using her experience to help others and create something meaningful from an incredibly difficult chapter of her life.”_

Attendees described the documentary as powerful, emotional, and inspiring. The screening concluded with a standing ovation and a discussion about justice, redemption, and the importance of perseverance.

For Jardan, however, the evening was not about revisiting the past.

It was about celebrating the future.

As the audience left the theater, the title of the film seemed to carry a deeper meaning. The outcome was not simply a legal victory. It was a life reclaimed, a family restored, and a renewed commitment to helping others find hope in their darkest moments.
