## Buena Park High School FFA Earns Grand Champion Honors at the 2026 OC Fair

**COSTA MESA, Calif. — July 2026** — Months of early mornings, hard work, and unwavering commitment culminated in an unforgettable finish as students from the **Buena Park High School FFA** chapter earned top honors during the **2026 Orange County Fair**, bringing home multiple championships while demonstrating the dedication that defines agricultural education.

Members of the **Buena Park High School FFA Chapter** celebrate an exceptional showing at the **2026 Orange County Fair**, bringing home **Grand Champion Market Beef, Grand Champion Market Lamb, Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, and Reserve Grand Champion** **Pen of Market Broilers** honors. Their success reflects months of dedication, teamwork, and hands-on agricultural education under the guidance of Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor **Paulina Cortez**, showcasing the chapter’s commitment to excellence both in and out of the show ring.

Competing against exhibitors from across Southern California, Buena Park FFA students showcased an impressive collection of livestock, including **one steer, twelve market lambs, seven goats, fifteen market hogs, twelve rabbits, and numerous poultry projects**.

Their efforts were rewarded with some of the fair’s highest recognitions:

- **Grand Champion Market Beef**

- **Grand Champion Market Lamb**

- **Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb**

- **Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Market Broilers**

Behind every championship ribbon were months of preparation, discipline, and teamwork.

Throughout the spring livestock season, students dedicated themselves to daily feeding schedules, conditioning workouts, showmanship practices, morning runs, and countless hours caring for their animals. While the banners and buckles represent excellence in the show ring, educators say the greatest accomplishments happened long before judging day.

For **Paulina Cortez**, Buena Park High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, the season was about much more than raising award-winning livestock.

_“At the beginning of the season, I told my students I would work as hard as they were willing to work,”_ said Cortez. _“They chose to give everything they had. Together we built more than successful livestock projects—we built discipline, consistency, resilience, and a team that genuinely cared about one another. The championships are exciting, but what makes me proudest is watching these students grow into responsible, hardworking young adults who know how to show up every day, support one another, and never stop improving. Those are lessons that will stay with them long after the fair is over.”_

Throughout the season, students encouraged one another through every challenge—from early morning workouts to late-night barn checks—creating a culture where success was measured not only by ribbons but by personal growth.

Among those celebrating was **Gavin Sanchez**, who described exhibiting livestock at the OC Fair as one of the most meaningful experiences of his life.

_“Showing my animal at the OC Fair was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had,”_ said Sanchez. _“It wasn’t just about competing—it was about everything that led up to it. I met so many people who share the same passion for agriculture, learned from incredible mentors, and became part of a community that pushes each other to be better. The friendships, lessons, and memories I made are something I’ll carry with me forever.”_

Agricultural education programs like Buena Park FFA combine classroom instruction with hands-on learning, teaching students animal science, leadership, responsibility, public speaking, financial management, and teamwork.

Those lessons were evident throughout the fairgrounds as Buena Park students supported one another in and out of the show ring, celebrating each other’s victories as enthusiastically as their own.

The chapter’s success was also made possible through the continued support of families, volunteers, buyers, alumni, community partners, and local businesses whose investment helps provide opportunities for students to participate in agricultural education.

As the 2026 OC Fair came to a close, the ribbons and banners represented more than championship livestock.

They represented months of perseverance.

They represented young people discovering what they are capable of through discipline and commitment.

And they represented a program that continues to grow tomorrow’s leaders—one student, one project, and one lesson at a time.
