Acacia Quilt Guild Supports Buena Park High School FFA with Handmade Livestock Covers for the 2026 OC Fair

## Acacia Quilt Guild Stitches Together Support for Buena Park High School FFA Students Ahead of the 2026 OC Fair
**BUENA PARK, Calif. — July 2026** — As Buena Park High School FFA students prepared for months of competition at the 2026 Orange County Fair, they received an unexpected gift that blended craftsmanship, compassion, and community spirit.
Members of the **Acacia Quilt Guild** created handmade lamb and goat covers for Buena Park High School FFA students competing at the **2026 Orange County Fair**, helping protect the animals while demonstrating the power of community support. The handcrafted gifts became lasting symbols of encouragement for student exhibitors throughout their award-winning fair season.
Members of the **Acacia Quilt Guild** handcrafted custom lamb and goat covers for Buena Park High School FFA exhibitors, providing practical protection for the animals while adding a personal touch that reflected the pride and dedication behind each student’s livestock project.
The handmade covers, sewn with care by guild members, among the many, **Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Swift** and **Isabel Cervantes**, helped protect the animals from the elements throughout fair week while showcasing the remarkable partnership between local artisans and the next generation of agricultural leaders.
The project highlighted a simple but powerful idea: when one generation shares its talents with another, everyone benefits.
_“Quilting has always been about caring for others,”_ said **Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Swift**, member of the Acacia Quilt Guild. _“When we learned about the commitment these students make to raising and caring for their animals, we knew this was a meaningful way to support them. Every stitch represented our encouragement and admiration for the discipline, responsibility, and heart these young people demonstrate every day.”_
Fellow guild member **Isabel Cervantes** said the project quickly became about more than sewing.
_“These blankets are a reminder that a community succeeds when people use their unique gifts to help one another,”_ Cervantes said. _“We hope every student who received one knows that there are people cheering them on—not just at the fair, but in life.”_
For **Paulina Cortez**, Buena Park High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, the donation exemplified the spirit that makes agricultural education so impactful.
_“Agriculture is built on community,”_ said Cortez. _“Our students spend months caring for their animals before most people ever see them in the show ring. Receiving these handmade covers reminded them that their hard work is recognized and appreciated by people beyond our program. It’s acts of kindness like this that teach students they are part of something much larger than themselves.”_
Among the grateful recipients was FFA student **Yanitza Ortiz**, who said the handmade gift made the experience even more meaningful.
_“Knowing someone took the time to make something specifically for my lamb meant so much,”_ Ortiz said. _“It wasn’t just a blanket—it was a reminder that our community believes in us and wants us to succeed. It made me feel proud to represent Buena Park.”_
Student exhibitor **Lexi Aguilar** said the custom covers quickly became one of her favorite memories from the fair.
_“Our lambs arrived at the OC Fair looking their very best thanks to many incredibly generous women,”_ Aguilar said. _“The handmade covers didn’t just make them look beautiful—they kept them comfortable throughout the week and reminded us that so many people were supporting us behind the scenes. Every time I put the cover on my lamb, I thought about the kindness and care that went into making it.”_
The handcrafted covers accompanied Buena Park FFA students through an exceptionally successful fair season, where the chapter earned **Grand Champion Market Beef, Grand Champion Market Lamb, and Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Market Broilers** honors.
While championship banners celebrated excellence in the show ring, the handmade gifts from the Acacia Quilt Guild became another lasting symbol of what made the season special.
They represented a community investing in its young people—not only through awards, but through encouragement, generosity, and shared purpose.
As the fair came to a close, students returned home with ribbons, lifelong memories, and handmade reminders that success is rarely achieved alone. It is built through families, teachers, volunteers, mentors, and neighbors who quietly lend their talents to help others thrive.
