Inga Grimmett

Producer

Inga Grimmett is a documentary filmmaker, producer, television professional, and creative entrepreneur whose career spans more than two decades across film, television, fashion, live events, and visual storytelling. A graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, with a degree in Television and Film, Inga began her professional journey through an internship at CBS Television Studios and has since built a career defined by both creative storytelling and hands-on production experience.

At the forefront of Inga’s work today is documentary filmmaking. She is the director and producer of Black Aquatic: Searching for Good Trouble, the first installment of her Black Aquatic documentary series exploring the often-overlooked aquatic history of the African and Black American diaspora and the contemporary athletes and adventurers who are reclaiming and sharing that legacy. The documentary was selected for several film festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Pan African Film Festival, where it made its world premiere in Los Angeles in 2026.

Inga Grimmett’s documentary work is carried by more than 20 years of professional experience behind the scenes. Her television and film career has included work as a set costumer, costume designer, wardrobe supervisor, production manager, producer, and filmmaker. Her major credits include work at CBS Television Studios in LA and New York, FOX, Warner Bros., working on multi-camera television productions, giving her extensive experience working collaboratively across creative and technical departments.

Her production career also extends into fashion, commercial content, and e-commerce. As a producer and production manager, Inga helped oversee commercial photo and content productions from concept through execution, coordinating photographers, models, creative teams, locations, schedules, logistics, and final deliverables. That experience strengthened her ability to lead productions in which creative vision, visual storytelling, brand identity, budgets, schedules, and multiple departments must work together seamlessly.

Inga has also produced and coordinated live events, creative productions, gallery experiences, photo shoots, and community-centered programs. Her event production experience has required her to manage the many moving pieces behind a successful live experience—from locations, talent and crews to vendors, scheduling, guest logistics, media, security, staging, and day-of execution. Whether producing for a camera or a live audience, her approach remains rooted in creating an experience that serves both the story and the community it is intended to reach.

Education and mentorship have also become an important extension of her professional work. Inga Grimmett has served as an Alumni Mentor and class assistant in film production at Cal State LA, returning to the university where her own career began to share practical industry knowledge and professional set experience with emerging filmmakers.

For Inga, storytelling has always been about more than what appears on the screen—it is about creating worlds, preserving stories, and opening doors. From the studio floor to the festival screen and now back into the classroom, she is using a career built behind the camera to inspire, mentor, and create pathways for the next generation of storytellers.
