Geovani Labrada is a Los Angeles–based camera assistant and editor who came up through the technical side of broadcasting, training in radio and television broadcasting technology at Pasadena City College. He has worked in Los Angeles media for close to two decades.
He has been a freelance video editor with LA36, Los Angeles’ nonprofit public access station, since 2007 — the same organization where 1st Assistant Camera Larry Savala III leads engineering — and has worked alongside that as a freelance audio engineer. In front of the camera he is credited as a camera operator on the arts series LA Art Zone, and in post-production on the long-running local series The Homies Hip Hop Show.
As 2nd AC he runs the working side of the camera department: slate and camera reports, media and card handling, batteries, prep and the camera cart — the detail work that lets a shoot stay on schedule and the footage arrive intact for the edit.
